Cemerong Waterfall
The Chemerong Amenity Forest (Hutan Lipur Chemerong) is nestled within the Pasir Raja Forest Reserve in the district of Dungun. Covering an area of 292 hectares, it is located approximately 30km from Al-Muktafi Billah Shah (AMBS) and 100km from Kuala Terengganu.
Development of this forest area began in 1993. It has since become a major attraction for both local and international tourists, thanks to its pristine virgin forests and diverse natural flora. The area features crystal-clear rivers, scenic rapids, and beautiful natural pools—perfect for swimming and relaxation, whether visiting solo, with family, or in a group.
Visitors can engage in a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, jungle trekking, mountain climbing, and sightseeing.
The Majestic Waterfall
The Chemerong Amenity Forest is home to a towering 305-meter waterfall, one of the highest in Malaysia. The surrounding waters are cool and crystal clear, ideal for wading and bathing. The natural splendor of the environment creates a cool, refreshing atmosphere that rejuvenates the soul.
Picnicking
The park offers spacious and comfortable picnic areas designed for relaxation. To ensure convenience for visitors, several resting huts (wakaf), benches, and tables are strategically placed throughout the picnic zones.
Camping
For those wishing to stay overnight, designated camping grounds are available. These areas are equipped with basic amenities, including cooking sheds and public restrooms.
Jungle Trekking
Adventure seekers can challenge themselves by trekking through the vast and stunning primary rainforest. The breathtaking beauty of the natural landscape promises to leave every hiker in awe.
Sightseeing and Leisure
For a more moderate pace, concrete walkways and stairs have been constructed to allow visitors to stroll comfortably through the forest while breathing in the fresh, crisp air.
Mountain Climbing
For extreme sports enthusiasts, the park serves as the starting point for a formidable climb. Mount Berembun, standing tall within the Titiwangsa Range, awaits those ready to test their limits. The trail offers a true challenge with natural obstacles such as steep inclines, tangled roots, and narrow passages. However, the sense of accomplishment at the summit is unparalleled, offering a truly magnificent panoramic view.
