Background

The Central Terengganu Development Authority (KETENGAH) is a statutory agency under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW). It was established on 12 April 1973 through Parliamentary Act No. 104/73 and mandated to undertake economic and social development across an area of 443,876 hectares, covering the interior regions of the Dungun, Kemaman, and Hulu Terengganu districts.
On 12 June 1993, the Kenyir Lake Development Area in Hulu Terengganu, covering 209,199 hectares, was gazetted under P.U.(B) 356 and Gazette Plan No. PW486 as part of the KETENGAH region. This expansion brought the total KETENGAH territory to 653,075 hectares—approximately half of the total land area of the state of Terengganu.
