Divisional Functions:

• Formulating strategies and implementing community development programmes in urban centres and traditional villages
• Implementing the People's Welfare Programme (PKR — Program Kesejahteraan Rakyat)
• Coordinating and monitoring the achievements of the People's Welfare Programme (PKR)
• Rural Infrastructure
• Implementing rural infrastructure and traditional village programmes
• Developing progressive and sustainable villages in line with the Ministry's Desa Q objectives
• Implementing the Programme for the Development of the Poorest Communities (PPRT — Program Pembangunan Rakyat Termiskin) to assist in supplementing household income
• Planning and enhancing training and educational activities for communities in urban centres and traditional villages to foster a knowledgeable society
• Planning and implementing religious, social, cultural, recreational and sports activities for residents
• Encouraging and providing basic training for local residents in rural-based industries oriented towards local resources
• Raising awareness so that individuals and target groups are motivated to change attitudes, develop self-reliance and actively participate in community development programmes
• Designing courses, training programmes and skills development initiatives
• Coordinating training and educational programmes for residents and institutions, including colleges, schools, NGOs and others
• Establishing and managing Village Libraries (Perpustakaan Desa)
• Establishing non-formal education facilities such as kindergartens
