The arrival of the Islamic New Year, or the beginning of Muharram, is traditionally associated with Asyura porridge among the Malay community. This porridge is prepared using a variety of ingredients such as spices, legumes, corn, meat, and rice, making it a well-known traditional dish cherished for its delicious taste. Similarly, in society, even with diverse views and beliefs, unity and consensus strengthen a community, enabling it to overcome any challenges it faces.

At Kampung Baru Sungai Binjai, KETENGAH organized the SEPakat Asyura Madani Program in conjunction with the Ma’al Hijrah Celebration of the KETENGAH Region 1446H/2024M. A total of 11 large cauldrons of Asyura porridge were cooked collaboratively, involving 11 Village Development and Security Committees (JPKKP) in Dun Ajil, Hulu Terengganu, and 1,500 servings of Asyura porridge were distributed to residents for everyone to enjoy.

The program was further enlivened with an Islamic Fashion Competition, Children’s Coloring Contest, and Health Screening.

YM Dato’ Tengku Ahmad Nadzri bin Tengku Musa, General Manager of KETENGAH, expressed his sincere appreciation and congratulations to KEMAS, the JPKKP of Kampung Baru Sungai Binjai, competition participants, JPKKP representatives, government agencies, and village residents who contributed to the success of the program. YM Dato’ also interacted warmly with the community and officiated the program.
