KETENGAH COURTESY CALL TO KEMAMAN DISTRICT AND LAND OFFICE

On June 23, 2026, KETENGAH held a courtesy call with the Kemaman District and Land Office, chaired by the Kemaman District Officer, Tuan Haji Ahmad Nazwawi bin Harun. The KETENGAH delegation was led by the Deputy General Manager (Development), Tuan Haji Mohd Radzi bin Md Noor, along with the management team comprising Encik Mohd Faiq bin Mohd Abd Majid (Manager of Economy and Entrepreneurs), Encik Mohd Hafiz bin Ahmad (Manager of Tourism), and KETENGAH officers.
The meeting was held to present the planning for the River Terrapin Conservation Empowerment Project under the Integrated Village Economic Development Project (PROSPEK) Kemaman. Discussions also focused on the site for the proposed construction of a new River Terrapin Conservation Centre. The need for this new centre arose because the existing information centre facility, located next to the Kampung Pasir Gajah Community Hall (DORA), can no longer accommodate the increasing number of visitors.
The implementation of this new conservation centre project is expected to have a comprehensive positive impact on the socioeconomic development of the local residents. Besides ensuring the sustainability of the increasingly endangered river terrapin species, this centre will be empowered as a biodiversity-based ecotourism product with the potential to generate new income sources for the local community through tourism activities. This initiative is also expected to create more job opportunities and strengthen the development of Small and Medium Industries (IKS) based on the river terrapin identity.
