Promoting a sports culture in the public service is essential as it not only produces healthy bodies and sharp minds but also acts as a catalyst towards higher service quality.

In this regard, the Launching Ceremony of the KETENGAH General Manager’s Sports Championship 2024 was held at the Al Muktafi Billah Shah Sports Complex, Dungun.

The ceremony was officiated by the General Manager of KETENGAH, YM Dato’ Tengku Ahmad Nadzri bin Tengku Musa. YM Dato’ advised, “Play with sportsmanship and make good use of this valuable time to strengthen family ties within the greater KETENGAH family, as well as to prepare for the MAKSPEN Sports Championship next year.”

A total of 16 events with 18 gold medals will be contested this year. The sports include futsal, bowling, sepak takraw, volleyball (men & women), batu seremban (women), badminton, football, netball, congkak (women), tug of war, table tennis, pétanque, carrom, darts and golf.

Participants are divided into four houses: Tok Ku Paloh (white), Captain: Haji Ahmad Fakaruddin bin Ahmad; Megat Panji Alam (yellow), Captain: Mr. Zainuddin bin Haji Md. Zaki; Abdul Rahman Limbong (blue), Captain: Haji Mahdi Amin bin Ahmad; and Tun Telanai (red), Captain: Haji Ramli bin Shahul Hameed.

The main objective of organising this sports championship is to strengthen ties among KETENGAH staff, Ketengah Holding Sdn. Bhd. (KHSB) and JKR KETENGAH, as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle through sports activities. In addition, it helps instil discipline, strong teamwork and a high fighting spirit.

The first sporting event to kick off the championship was futsal. The blue house emerged as champions after defeating the white house in the final. Third place went to the yellow house, followed by the red house in fourth place. The matches were made more lively and exciting with strong support from each house’s cheering squads.
