Handover Ceremony of 2 Tourist Boats for the Redang Island Tourism Service Project by Koperasi Setiajaya Pulau Redang Kuala Terengganu Berhad

The Desa Lestari Programme (PDL), introduced in 2013 under the Government Transformation Programme (GTP 2.0), is one of the initiatives by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) aimed at improving community livelihoods through the provision of grants to selected community cooperatives. Koperasi Setiajaya Pulau Redang Kuala Terengganu Berhad, operating in Kampung Pulau Redang, Terengganu, was successfully selected to receive a grant of RM500,000.00 under the Tourism Services Project in 2021.
Accordingly, KETENGAH was appointed as the implementing agency for the Tourism Services Project, acquiring 2 tourist boats worth RM237,079.55 to be used by the cooperative. Prior to this, the cooperative had received 2 passenger vans and commenced operations in May 2024.
The handover ceremony was officiated by the Deputy General Manager (Development) of KETENGAH, YBrs. Encik Zainuddin bin Haji Md. Zaki, and witnessed by YBrs. Tuan Haji Bazlan bin Abd Rahman, Chairman of Ketengah Niaga & Tours Sdn. Bhd. Also present were representatives from the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM), KETENGAH officers, and members of Koperasi Setiajaya Pulau Redang Kuala Terengganu Berhad.
KKDW remains committed to empowering communities by planning and implementing economic development projects in rural areas. Through programmes like this, it is hoped that community cooperatives will continue to thrive and act as catalysts for rural economic development.
