TASIK KENYIR DEVELOPMENT STRENGTHENED THROUGH MOTAC SUPPORT

HULU TERENGGANU, 27 JULY 2026 – The development of Tasik Kenyir as a premier national tourism destination continues to be strengthened through support and allocation from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC).
YBhg. Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), attended the Handover Session and Site Visit for the Completed Project of Rehabilitation, Conservation, Renovation, and Upgrading Works (PPUN) under MOTAC’s Allocation to review the implementation results of tourism projects in Tasik Kenyir. Also present were YBrs. Tuan Haji Mahdi Amin bin Ahmad, Deputy General Manager (Operations) of KETENGAH, along with YBrs. Encik Shamsul Kamal bin Mohd Amin, Free Zone Manager of KETENGAH.
During this event, a Certificate of Practical Completion (CPC) was also handed over to the appointed contractor, Lingkaran Emas Resources, as a sign that the works implemented have been completed and certified by KETENGAH.
This project, valued at RM500,000.00, focuses on upgrading and rehabilitating tourism facilities at Tanjung Bewah, Gua Bewah, and Melunak Trail, Tasik Kenyir, including the rehabilitation of an open hall, 5 units of gazebos, 2 units of toilets, 24 units of campsites, the pathway to Melunak Trail, in addition to constructing 1 new toilet unit, 2 landmark units, and warning signs.
This project has an impact on ensuring quality standards, visitor safety & comfort, improving visitor experience, and strengthening the competitiveness of Tasik Kenyir's ecotourism products.
