Bukit Besi Museum today received an educational visit from Politeknik Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu, involving 37 participants, consisting of 36 students and one accompanying lecturer, led by Cik Maherar Binti Refin, a lecturer in Diploma in Recreational Tourism.

This visit aimed to provide exposure and knowledge to the students regarding the history of iron ore mining and processing in Bukit Besi, which began around 1930 by Nippon Mining Company (NMC) and continued until mining activities ceased in 1971 by Eastern Mining and Metal Company (EMMCO). Throughout the visit, the students were given explanations regarding the historical development of Bukit Besi, as well as iron ore mining and processing methods.

Additionally, participants also had the opportunity to view various artifacts, exhibits, and mining heritage remnants displayed at the Bukit Besi Museum. Our highest appreciation and thanks go to Politeknik Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu, for their visit to the Bukit Besi Museum. We hope this visit becomes a meaningful experience and enhances the knowledge and awareness of the younger generation regarding the importance of preserving and appreciating the history and heritage of Bukit Besi.
