Benchmarking Visit for the Development of the Economy and Entrepreneurship Division

The Central Terengganu Development Authority (KETENGAH) organised a benchmarking visit to several agricultural projects, namely the Sorghum Cultivation Project, Chilli Fertigation Project, and Pineapple Cultivation Project.
The first site visited by the participants was the sorghum plantation in Bentong, Pahang. Sorghum, also known as sekoi, has the potential to serve as an alternative or substitute for rice and wheat flour. It is rich in nutrients, low in fat, high in protein, fibre, B vitamins, and micronutrients, making it one of the most important grains after rice, wheat, corn, and soy.
The visit was led by the Deputy General Manager (Development), Encik Zainuddin bin Haji Md Zaki, together with KETENGAH officers, staff, and entrepreneurs under KETENGAH’s guidance.
On the second day, the visit continued to the chilli fertigation project at IPR Putrajaya, managed by PPK Kuala Langat. Various techniques and experiences related to chilli fertigation cultivation were shared with the participants.
The final location visited was Pak Din’s pineapple farm, aimed at gaining exposure, learning knowledge, and sharing experiences for the implementation of a Pineapple Cultivation Project that can be adapted to agricultural projects in KETENGAH. Pak Din’s friendly guidance and hospitality opened the participants’ minds to effective pineapple cultivation practices.
KETENGAH hopes that this visit has broadened participants’ perspectives, increased knowledge, explored new technologies, and sparked innovative ideas, while also establishing potential business networks.
Moreover, the visit served as an inspiration for entrepreneurs to remain committed and consistent in agriculture, advancing the rural agricultural sector to become more sustainable and competitive, thereby strengthening the nation’s food security.
