PHYSICAL ASSET HANDOVER CEREMONY OF THE DESA LESTARI PROGRAM TO KOPERASI SAHABAT GUNUNG TEBU TERENGGANU BERHAD

Today, Koperasi Sahabat Gunung Tebu Terengganu Berhad received physical assets for its Ecotourism Project under the Desa Lestari Program, which is one of the initiatives by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) aimed at empowering the socio-economic development of rural communities through a cooperative approach.
The handover ceremony was officiated by YBrs. Encik Zainuddin bin Haji Md. Zaki, Deputy General Manager (Development), representing the General Manager of the Lembaga Kemajuan Terengganu Tengah (KETENGAH), the implementing agency of the program in Terengganu.
The cooperative received a grant of RM500,000.00, which will be used to finance various project components, including the purchase of a passenger van, 16 All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), camping equipment and supplies, as well as operational and administrative costs.
The ceremony, held at the Operations Office of Koperasi Sahabat Gunung Tebu Terengganu Berhad, was also enlivened by an ATV adventure activity along trails, forests, and streams, which are among the main attractions of the cooperative’s ecotourism offerings.
In his speech, Encik Zainuddin expressed confidence that the cooperative would achieve long-term success and contribute to local economic development.
"It is hoped that the grant provided will strengthen the cooperative’s capacity to generate income, create employment opportunities, and provide economic benefits to the community and cooperative members," he said.
Also present at the event were representatives from KKDW Putrajaya, KKDW Terengganu State Office, the Terengganu State Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM), Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), and the Terengganu State Office of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC).
