Opening Ceremony of Kenyir Geopark Festival 2025

YB Datuk Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Wang, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, officiated the Opening Ceremony of the Kenyir Geopark Festival 2025, which began today and will run until 1 November 2025 at Pulau Poh, Pengkalan Gawi, Hulu Terengganu.
The festival is organised to strengthen Kenyir’s status as a National Geopark under the theme “Exploring the Lake Panorama.” A variety of exciting activities are featured, including geological exhibitions, water sports, cultural performances, and ecotourism programmes that highlight the beauty of Lake Kenyir as a premier tourist destination in Terengganu.
The festival not only boosts tourism in Terengganu but also raises awareness of the importance of preserving valuable natural heritage.
Also present at the event were YBhg. Dato’ Abdul Kahar bin Abdullah, Deputy Secretary-General (Policy), KKDW; YM Dato’ Tengku Ahmad Nadzri bin Tengku Musa, General Manager of KETENGAH; and YB Datuk Razali bin Idris, Chairman of the Terengganu State Committee on Tourism, Culture, Environment and Climate Change.
Located in Hulu Terengganu, Lake Kenyir is Southeast Asia’s largest man-made lake, renowned for its natural beauty. Surrounded by lush forests, small islands, and stunning waterfalls, it is a captivating tourist destination.
