Fishing Competition Livened Up the Kenyir Geopark Festival 2025

The Fishing Competition at the Kenyir Geopark Festival 2025 emerged as one of the main attractions throughout the festival, held at Pulau Poh, Lake Kenyir.
The competition successfully attracted numerous anglers from both within and outside the district, who came to test their skills while enjoying the stunning scenery of Lake Kenyir, renowned as a prime eco-tourism destination and recreational fishing spot.
Besides being a leisure activity that fosters camaraderie among participants, the competition also aimed to promote the potential of angling tourism in the largest water catchment area in Southeast Asia.
The prizes offered included RM1,000 in cash for the champion, RM300 for second place, and RM200 for third place. The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by YM Dato’ Tengku Ahmad Nadzri bin Tengku Musa, General Manager of the Central Terengganu Development Authority (KETENGAH).
This program is part of KETENGAH’s initiatives to strengthen the local community tourism sector under the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW).
